Pop on over to www.FreeLinkCloaker.com
and sign up for Free Link Cloaker
and a couple of moments later the download instructions will be in your inbox.
Righ click on the download link and choose "Save file as..." and save it to your hard disk
Use your favourite unzip program eg WinZip, WinRar or just the built in unzip in Windows XP or later.
You should have a folder with these files on your hard disk.
I need to make this bit very clear. Free Link Cloaker runs on *your* server. This is a good thing. It means the service can never go away. If I stop distributing FLC it doesn't matter. Your links will keep working and you won't lose any sales.
Unfortunately webhosting is not free. Most of you already have webhosting but for anyone who doesn't I've gone hunting to find what I think is one of the best deals available. Hostgator.
www.FreeLinkCloaker.com/recommends/hostgator
So if you don't already have a webhosting account pop over there, sign up for it then email me at support@freelinkcloaker.com and I'll do the install for you. It's the least I can do to say thanks for the affiliate payment I receive from Hostgator.
WARNING: This guide was written for Hostgator hosting. It'll probably work with other CPanel hosting. It may work with other hosting. Your mileage may vary.
OK. This is where we start getting a bit technical so they'll be plenty of screen shots. Just do it one bit at a time and make sure you check each as you go.
Click on the MySQL databases icon.
Enter a name for the new database eg cloaker and then click "create database"
Enter a new username and password that the db will use, eg cloaker for both.
Add the new user to the new database with all permissions.
Finally click "go back" at the bottom to return to the main menu.
The next step is to upload the files to your webhost. This is all done through the file manager, so click on that icon.
Click on the folder icon next to "public_html". This will take you into the root directory of your website.
Click "Create New Folder"
This opens the folder create box in the top right corner. Type flc into it and click create.
The page will refresh and you'll see and flc folder on the left. Click on the folder icon next to flc to go inside that folder.
Click on Upload files(s)
Click on the Browse buttons and locate the files on your hard disk. In total there are 6 to upload. Make sure to use a different browse box for each one.
Click upload and wait for it to finish. When it has you'll be taken back to the folder view and should see your six files listed.
Point your browser to www.YourDomain.com/flc/installcloaker.php. For this demo I'm going to use one of my domains www.SqueezyPeezy.com but make sure to replace the domain name with your own one.
Now you need to fill in your database details. This bit can be tricky so make sure you read the explanation carefully.
Finish up by clicking submit. If all goes to plan you'll see this message.
If it didn't work then you'll be given more instructions to follow.
In order for Free Link Cloaker to work properly you need to move a couple of files. To do this go back to the CPanel main menu, click file manager and go to the contents of the flc folder you created before. If you can't remember how to do this then go back to Step 5 and follow the instructions until you're there.
Click on the text 'link.php' and you will see the file option menu in the top right hand corner.
Click on "Copy File" and you'll be presented with the top level view of your webhosting account again. Click on the text for 'public_html' to select that as the place to move link.php to.
Do the same for the file '.htaccess'.
Do the same for cloaker_config.php.
Go to www.YourDomain.com/flc/newcloak.php to create your first cloaked link.
